The Central Election Commission at a sitting on Friday issued an official warning to the parliamentary candidate in constituency No. 212 in Kyiv, the chairman of supermarket company Furshet's supervisory board, Ihor Balenko.

Deputy Head of the Central Election Commission Andriy Mahera reported that on September 16 the Central Election Commission received a decision by Kyiv Administrative Court of Appeals that recorded violations during the election campaign committed by Balenko.

According to the court, the application to receive a pension discount card in the supermarket chain contained a photo of the parliamentary candidate Ihor Balenko and the phone number of his office. According to the conditions of the pension discount program, if a pensioner fills in this form, he will get a 7% discount card for purchases of goods in this supermarket chain.

“As part of the election propaganda initiated by Balenko, voters can buy goods at a discount linked to the name of the given candidate. Under a decision of the court, Balenko is obliged to stop the indirect bribery of the voters,” Mahera said.

However, according to the Ukrainian law on elections of MPs, the warning to the candidate will not lead to the cancellation of his registration.

As reported, chairman of the supervisory board of CJSC Furshet Ihor Balenko was registered in constituency No. 212 in Kyiv as an independent candidate.
