You're reading: Channel 5 says three suspects in attack on journalist Chornovol identified; one arrested

A person who may have been involved in an attack on a journalist and social activist Tetiana Chornovol has been detained, while two other suspected attackers have been identified, Channel 5 reported on Wednesday, citing its sources.

According to the channel, the arrested person is the owner of the car. The police are searching for two others involved in the attack.

Interfax-Ukraine hasn’t been able to get confirmation or denial of this information from the Interior Ministry.

Meanwhile, the agency’s sources in the police said that most likely the detainee (the car owner) after the questioning pointed to the people who beat up the journalist. They were identified and put on a wanted list.

As reported, journalist Chornovol was beaten in Kyiv region in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to police, Chornovil was driving her car when she was cut off by a dark-colored car. Unidentified individuals pulled the journalist out of the car and beat her up, throwing her car into a ditch.

Criminal proceedings were opened into the incident.

Chornovol is a well-known journalist and social activist who published a series of investigative materials concerning incumbent high-ranking officials.
