Kharkiv – The chief doctor of Ukrzaliznytsia’s Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 (Kharkiv), Mykhailo Afanasyev, has confirmed that untaken medicines have been found in the ward of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who is undergoing treatment in this hospital.

“The drugs were found two days ago, and we are currently investigating this,” he told reporters outside the building of the hospital on Thursday.

He declined to name the drugs and talk in more detail about who found them, how and where.

Afanasyev also evaded a direct answer to the question of whether the patient could be discharged from hospital if it turns out that she is not taking prescribed drugs.

“If these are drugs for a particular purpose, and a patient is not taking them, the treatment stops. If these are everyday medicines, this patient will not be discharged from hospital,” he said.

Earlier, some media reported, citing a source that medicines were found during the cleaning of Tymoshenko’s ward.
