You're reading: Coal delivery suspended at Avdiyivka Coke Plant due to shelling

The Avdiyivka Coke and Chemical Plant of the Metinvest Group, a largest coke and chemical plant in Europe, was forced to decrease the output due to shelling of Avdiyivka and shells hitting the railroad station, which led to suspension of delivery of coking coals and dispatch of coke, in the early hours of August 24.

The repair works are currently underway, the plant’s General Director Musa Magomedov wrote on Facebook.

“The railway personnel has already initiated the repair of the overhead system, as of repair of the relay controlling the switch points and consequently the entire station, the physical resources and time budget necessary for it are currently being evaluated,” he said.

“For now, we have to work the old-fashioned way, which cannot but affect the speed of the cargo handling,” he said.
