You're reading: Communist Party member says new government is temporary and transitional

The new Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is temporary and transitional, Communist Party MP Oleksandr Holub has said.

“The Communist Party of Ukraine is assessing the possible program
activity of the new Cabinet of Ministers, rather than its personalities.
But it’s completely clear that a new program to emerge from crisis has
not been presented. Therefore, there is no hope that this Cabinet of
Ministers will be effective. Therefore, this composition of the Cabinet
of Ministers will most likely be temporary or transitional,” the
Communist Party’s press service quoted Holub as saying.

He also added that Serhiy Arbuzov’s appointment as first deputy prime minister was significant.

“The appointment of people close to the president to such high posts
in the Cabinet of Ministers is a sign of the intention to take control
of the main areas of influence in the country ahead of presidential
elections,” Holub said.

He also said that the Communist Party was planning to control the
work of the new government at the parliamentary level: “Of course, we’re
assuming the functions of public control over the actions and decisions
of the new Cabinet of Ministers. We will support reports by ministers
in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.”
