A member of the Communist Party of Ukraine (CPU) parliamentary faction Spyrydon Kilinkarov has stated that Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov supports a partial joining of Ukraine to the Customs Union.

According to Kilinkarov, the issue was raised during a closed meeting of the CPU faction with Azarov.

“The premier expressed his position in the following way: we are
ready to consider the possibility of a partial joining to the Customs
Union, but we have demands to make to the Russian side,” the MP said at
the Shuster Live TV program on Dec. 14.

According to Kilinkarov, Azarov stressed that Ukraine’s cooperation
within the Customs Union should be mutually beneficial, so as to avoid
mistakes the country made when it joined the World Trade Organization
and failed to protect its domestic market.
