The 66th U. S. Secretary of State (2005-2009), Condoleezza Rice, will take part in the ninth Yalta Annual Meeting entitled "Ukraine and the World: Overcoming Tomorrow’s Challenges Together", which was organized by the Yalta European Strategy (YES) in partnership with the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.

Rice is on September 14 expected to open a plenary discussion devoted to the future global order and security, delivering a speech. After that she will participate in the discussion with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule; Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations (2001-2007) and member of the Indian Parliament Shashi Tharoor, and founder and CEO of Kaspersky Lab Eugene Kaspersky.

On the second day of the forum, Rice will take part in the energy panel with Russian Vice Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich; Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Boiko; regional CEO of Shell company in Russia, Ukraine and Caspian Region Matthias Bichsel, and DTEK Director General Maksym Tymchenko. The participants of the discussion will discuss energy challenges that Europe will face in the crisis period; the development of the alternative sources and energy security in the region; new models for the development of energy cooperation between EU countries, Russia and Ukraine, and the influence of these factors on the processes of the European transformation.

In addition to the Rice, other high-ranking U.S. representatives will participate in the YES meeting. On Friday on September 14, an interactive lunch-discussion on the presidential elections in the United States will be held with the participation of former Head of the President’s Administration of the 44th U.S. President (2010-2011) William Daley, and also 58th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives NewtGingrich.

The ninth Yalta annual meeting entitled “Ukraine and the World: Overcoming Tomorrow’s Challenges Together” will take place at the Livadia Palace in Yalta from September 13 to September 16. Over 2000 leaders from politics, business and society representing more than 20 countries will discuss major global challenges and their impact on Europe, Ukraine and the world.
