You're reading: Cooperation between Ukraine’s NABU and FBI to start in February – Sytnyk

Representatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), who will help the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) with monitoring money flows, are to arrive in Kyiv in February, NABU Director Artem Sytnyk said.

“In February we’re waiting for FBI representatives who will actively help us, as they have the capability to monitor money flows in U.S. dollars around the globe,” Sytnyk told Hromadske.tv on Feb. 8.

In his words, cooperation with the FBI will let Ukraine monitor the passage of international legal orders through respective authorities in the United States, and will assist in investigating such cases in the “shortest time possible.”

“In many cases there is such component as the connection of cash flows with foreign countries. Actually, the course and pace of investigation are also dependent on the fact that we will have to apply for an international legal order from our partners abroad,” he said.

Sytnyk earlier said that shortly after the NABU and the FBI would sign a memorandum of cooperation in joint investigation.

The NABU director was on a working visit to Washington, the United States, on Jan. 19-21.
