A court has taken a decision on an open court hearing of the case of rape and murder victim Oksana Makar, apart from the court sessions at which secret evidence will be examined, the media liaisons department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine has reported.

After returning from the deliberation room, the judges announced their decision on the petitions lodged by prosecutors and defense lawyers on the holding of a public hearing on the Makar case.

Judges satisfied the prosecutor’s petition to hold a public court heating, except for some court sessions at which secret evidence will be studied.

On March 9, 18-year-old Makar had been gang-raped, set on fire and left for dead. Three men were arrested.

Makar, whose brutal gang rape shook Ukrainians and many across the world, died on the morning of March 29 after a grueling three weeks of hospital treatment.
