Crimean parliament has adopted a resolution to conduct a Crimean-wide referendum over the improvement of the autonomous status and the broadening of its powers, chief of the information and analytical department of the Secretariat of the Crimean Supreme Council Olha Sulnykova reported.

A total of 61 out of 64 members of the parliament registered for
voting supported this decision at an extraordinary plenary sitting on
Thursday.

According to the resolution, a referendum is due on May 25, 2014 and
will focus on such issues as: “The Autonomous Republic of Crimea has
State Sovereignty and is a part of Ukraine on the basis of agreements”
(for or against).

Under the resolution, the Crimean parliament has been charged with
elaborating and approving organizational matters for the referendum and
its financing.
