There is currently no acute need for a new wave of mobilization in Ukraine, Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak said.

“Twenty thousand people have now come to become contract servicemen as of this morning. And we expect that another 5,000-7,000 will come every month […] and 50-60 percent of the people have combat experience, we even prefer them. All these things make it possible to say that, if mobilization is conducted this year, there will be one wave and it will depend on the situation in the east. There is currently no such need,” he told a press conference in Kyiv on Monday, which he gave jointly with Lithuanian Minister of National Defense Juozas Olekas.

The minister recalled that some 30,000 people have now been discharged from military service as a result of demobilization.
