Ukraine is interested in supplies of Azerbaijani oil to Ukrainian oil refineries and its transit across Ukraine to European countries, Deputy Prime Minister and Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Minister of Ukraine Hennadiy Zubko said at the 11th meeting of the Azerbaijani-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Baku on Friday.

“Today we have created all required technical conditions for this. In addition, we have discussed the possibilities of investing into the Ukrainian oil and gas sector by Azerbaijan,” the press service of Zubko reported, citing him.

Zubko also said that the sides discussed the prospects of organizing supplies of light oil using the southern section of the Druzhba oil pipeline towards oil refineries in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. He said that the sides confirmed their interest in the quick implementation of the project.

According to the State Statistics Service, imports of mineral fuel, crude oil and fuel from Azerbaijan to Ukraine in January through April 2016 amounted to $3.63 million, and this was 40.8% up year-over-year. Last year imports of these products from Azerbaijan fell by 33.5%, to $6.9 million.

Ukrainian transportation services provided to Azerbaijan decreased by 18.3% last year, to $12.3 million. The statistics authority did not specify the services provided.
