Representatives of the Southeast Army said a Ukrainian checkpoint has been destroyed between the towns of Kreminna and Rubizhne in the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic.

“A Ukrainian checkpoint was destroyed between Kreminna and Rubizhne yesterday at around 10 p.m. The Donbas battalion, which intended to cleanse Rubizhne today, suffered heavy losses and is almost fully defeated,” a representative of the Rubizhne self-defense forces told Interfax on Monday, June 16.

In the meantime, Dmytro Tymchuk, the head of the Kyiv-based group Information Resistance, said another Ukrainian checkpoint came under fire in Luhansk region last night.

“A group of some 150 terrorists tried to break through a checkpoint of the Anti-Terrorist Operation forces in the area of Svatove, Luhansk region, in motor vehicles. When they approached the checkpoint, they opened fire on the troops,” he said on Facebook on Monday morning, June 16.

Tymchuk also said that “Ukrainian troops returned the fire, destroying the head truck of the terrorists’ column with an infantry combat vehicle,” causing the insurgents to run away.
