You're reading: Donetsk airport not reopen to flights until evening May 28

The Ukrainian State Aviation Service has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) extending the restrictions on flights to the Donetsk airport until 2000 local time on May 28, a source on the aviation market told Interfax-Ukraine on May 27.

The Donetsk airport has suspended flights since 7 pm May 26 because of the arrival of armed representatives from the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), following which the State Aviation Service restricted flights to the airport.

On the same day, Ukrainian forces launched a large-scale military operation against the gunmen near the airport and carried out airstrikes against their positions, after the latter refused to give up arms.
