Eight Ukrainian soldiers have been injured over the past 24 hours in armed clashes in the anti-terrorist operation area in Donbas, Ukrainian Presidential Administration spokesman Andriy Lysenko said.

“Over the past 24 hours 51 cases of shootings targeting our positions have been recorded. Luckily, nobody was killed but eight of our soldiers were injured. All of them received medical treatment and there is nothing thought to be threatening their lives,” he told a briefing conference in Kyiv on Dec. 7.

Lysenko also revealed that the situation escalated in the east of the country.

“Yesterday 15 cases of mortar shelling of our positions were recorded and this is one-third of the total number of shootings,” Lysenko said.
