Minsk - The Trilateral Contact Group for Ukraine has agreed upon the establishment of a security zone in southeastern Ukraine 50 to 70 kilometers in width, depending on the types of weapons to be withdrawn, as is stipulated by a list of measures on the enforcement of the Minsk agreements that the Group signed on Feb. 12, of which Russian President Vladimir Putin informed journalists.

The set of measures envisions, in particular, the withdrawal of all heavy weapons by the parties to equal distances with the purpose of setting up at least a 50 kilometer wide security zone for 100mm and larger artillery systems and 70 kilometers wide for multiple rocket launching systems.

The security zone for Tornado-S, Uragan, and Smerch multiple rocket launchers and Tochka-U tactical ballistic missile systems must be 140 kilometers wide.

The document says that the Ukrainian government forces must pull back all heavy weapons from the currently existing contact line and the armed units of some districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine (the militants) from the contact line stipulated by the Sept. 19, 2014 Minsk memorandum.
