You're reading: EU Ambassador to Ukraine notes importance of Black Sea region to European Union

Simferopol – Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira has noted that the Black Sea region is important for the EU in terms of development of the transport sector, energy and industry.

Teixeira said this at 2nd International Black Sea Economic Forum at the Livadia Palace in Yalta on Friday, the Information Policy Department of the Council of Ministers of Crimea reported.

Head of the EU delegation to Ukraine assured that the EU is ready to assist Ukraine in modernizing its economy and in economic integration with the EU, as well as in achieving political association.

"Our partnership is aimed at increasing the economic prosperity and living standards," he stressed.

Teixeira also assured that the EU’s regional cooperation initiatives, which are implemented as part of the Eastern Partnership and the Black Sea Synergy programs, are open to all the countries of the Black Sea region, including Ukraine.

"The Autonomous Republic of Crimea has great prospects in this field," he added.
