Brussels - The EU Foreign Affairs Council has expressed deep concern about the events in Ukraine and called for a broad dialogue in order to settle the political crisis. 

This decision on Ukraine was taken in Brussels on Monday at a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson for EU High Representative Catherine Ashton, and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius, wrote on their Twitter pages.

“The EU Council made the decision: [expressing] concern about the recent developments, and calling for a broad dialogue for a democratic solution to the political crisis,” Kocijancic wrote.

Linkevicius, in turn, speaking about the decision taken in respect of Ukraine, wrote: “[The EU expresses] deep concern over the January 16 legislation, urges inclusive dialogue, restraint and ensuring the right to assembly and speech.”
