The European Union has welcomed the alignment of five third countries with a Council decision on Ukraine-related sanctions against certain individuals and organizations involved in the destabilization of the situation in Ukraine and violation of its territorial integrity.

On May 12, 2014, the Council adopted Council Decision 2014/265/CFSP,
which amends the listing criteria to target people undermining stability
in Ukraine or obstructing international organizations in Ukraine and
provides a legal basis for asset freezes on entities in Crimea and
Sevastopol which have been confiscated, or entities which have benefited
from such confiscation, reads the Declaration by the High
Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of
certain third countries with the Council Decision 2014/265/CFSP amending
Decision 2014/145/CFSP.

In addition, the Decision expands the list of persons, entities and
bodies subject to restrictive measures as set out in the Annex to
Decision 2014/145/CFSP.

The Candidate Countries Montenegro and Iceland, the Country of the
Stabilization and Association Process and potential candidate Albania,
and the EFTA countries Liechtenstein and Norway, members of the European
Economic Area, align themselves with this Decision.

They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council decision, the Declaration said.

The European Union said it takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
