KHARKIV – The Kyiv Post visited Kharkiv's Shevchenko park and the fan zone on Freedom Square to pose five simple knowledge questions about Ukraine to three sets of German and Dutch fans.

The Germans came out ahead. One group even named five Ukrainian cities that are not host cities. Granted, the Dutch are playing all three of their group games in Kharkiv, so they haven’t had to travel much outside the city.

The following are the questions asked:

  1. Can you name Ukraine’s president?
  2. Name five Ukrainian cities.
  3. What is Ukraine’s longest river?
  4. Can you name either one branded Ukrainian beer or branded vodka?
  5. Name three players on the Ukrainian national football team.
