KHARKIV - Euro 2012 match days in Kharkiv will not be declared bank holidays or shortened working days, the director of the department on preparations for Euro 2012 at Kharkiv City Council, Oleksandr Nechyporenko, has said.

"In our case, it makes no sense, because two of the three matches that will be played in Kharkiv fall on Saturday, June 9, and Sunday, June 17. The third match, on June 13, will be played on Wednesday, but at 2145, and road traffic is less active at this time," he told Interfax-Ukraine.

Earlier, the Euro 2012 department at Lviv City Council said that the Cabinet of Ministers was considering proposals from Euro 2012 host cities to declare match days as bank holidays.

The Euro 2012 European Football Championship kicks off on June 8. Sixteen out of 31 matches will be played in Ukraine. The final game will be played at the Olympiysky National Sports Complex in Kyiv on July 1. Euro 2012 host cities in Ukraine are also Kharkiv, Lviv and Donetsk.
