Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych greeted Ukrainians in the country and abroad with the start of broadcasting the Euronews TV channel in Ukrainian.
A greeting posted on the official Web site of the head of state says that today Ukraine shows another step to European society.
"The world is becoming closer and more understandable for those who speak Ukrainian," he said.
The president said that the fact that the Ukrainian version of Euronews starts rebroadcasting in days of the 20th anniversary Ukraine’s Independence is symbolic.
"Freedom of speech is one of the largest victories of national democracy over the past 20 years. Now we open a new page in the history of Ukrainian information space," Yanukovych said.
The president wished creative ideas, inspiration and success to the Ukrainian section of Euronews and its viewers.
