You're reading: European deputy Kowal meets with Lutsenko in prison

Member of the European Parliament Pawel Kowal (Poland) and his assistant Aleksander Grabczewski visited the Lukyanivske detention facility (Kyiv) on Friday to meet with convicted former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, according to the press service of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine.

"The management of the detention facility informed the representatives of the European Parliament about the specifics of the facility’s activities, and permitted a personal meeting with Lutsenko," reads the statement.

The visitors also examined the detention conditions at the facility, and visited Lutsenko’s cell and a medical unit of the detention facility where former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko was treated.

As reported, on April 5 Kowal and his assistant met with Tymoshenko at the Kachanivska penal colony.
