Brussels, Oct. 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko will take part in a discussion of EU-Ukraine relations with members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament.

The debate will take place during the meeting of the committee in Brussels on Tuesday, according to the Web site of the European Parliament.

In the light of the trial of Ukraine’s opposition leader and former prime minister, Yulia Tymoshenko, and ahead of announcement of the verdict, the debate on the issue is expected to be sharp.

Most members of the European Parliament are critical of what is happening, and therefore there is reason to believe that Hryschenko will face tough questioning, as well as criticism from European politicians.

In addition, the second half of the meeting will be dedicated to a report containing the recommendations of the EU Council and the Commission on negotiations with Ukraine on the association agreement drafted by MEP Ryszard Legutko (the group of European Conservatives and Reformists, Poland).

The report was already presented on Sept. 12. On Tuesday the committee’s members will hold the first discussion of the draft document.

The committee intends to vote on the report on Oct. 20, after which the document will be put on agenda of a plenary session of the European Parliament, which will be held on Nov.14-17 in Strasbourg.
