You're reading: Ex-head of financial service markets regulator Volha gets new lawyer

Former Head of the State Commission for Financial Service Markets Regulation and leader of the Union of Left Forces Vasyl Volha, who is charged with bribe taking, will get a new defense counsel - Yevhen Solodko starting from next week.

Solodko will replace lawyer Oleh Korol, who was removed from the defense of Volha by Pechersky District Court in Kyiv on Aug. 1, the Union of Left Forces party’s press service reported on Wednesday.

Volha was detained on July 19. Pechersky District Court in Kyiv ruled to place him in custody for two months as a pre-trial restriction measure.

Volha is charged with accepting a $500,000 bribe.
