Former Economy Minister of Ukraine Bohdan Danylyshyn, who received political asylum in the Czech Republic, is planning to run for the next presidential election in Ukraine, according to his interview with the Izvestia v Ukraine newspaper.

“I cannot stand for these parliamentary elections. The current law on
parliamentary elections does not allow me to do this. But I will get
ready for the presidential election. I have a team, a program, and, what
is even more important, the will to build Ukraine in a new way,” the
ex-minister said.

As reported, earlier Danylyshyn, who held the position of the economy
minister in the government lead by Yulia Tymoshenko in 2007-2010, was
put on the state and international wanted lists in August 2010.

On October 19, 2010 he was arrested in the Czech Republic by Interpol.

The Czech Republic granted Danylyshyn political asylum. The Ukrainian side demanded that he be extradited.

Earlier, the ex-minister did not rule out that he could take part in the parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2012.
