You're reading: Expenses on utility subsidies in Ukraine 19.4% down over seven months of 2012

The total volume of subsidies for the compensation of the expenses of families in paying for housing and utilities services through January-July 2012 was Hr 78.3 million, which is Hr 18.8 million or 19.4% down from the same period in 2011, the State Statistics Service has reported.

According to the service, in January-July 2012 subsidies were granted
to 632,900 families, or 96.4% of the total number of families that
applied for them, which is 21.3% down from the figure last year. At the
same time, 77.6% of the families that received subsidies in July 2012
consisted of one person.

The average size of subsidies to compensate expenses to pay for
housing and utility services per family in July 2012 fell by 22.5%
compared to July 2011, to Hr 56.6.

The biggest subsidies in July 2012 were recorded in Kyiv, Poltava and
Kharkiv regions (Hr 124.3-171), while the smallest ones were fixed in
Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi, Zhytomyr and Kherson regions – Hr 10.1-12.8.

As reported, the total amount of subsidies for the compensation of
expenses of families in paying for housing and utility services was Hr
318 million in 2011, which is Hr 80.6 million or 33.95% up from 2010.
