The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and the Ukrainian Embassy in Egypt have advised Ukrainians to refrain from tourist trips to the cities of Cairo, Alexandria, Aswan, Luxor, Taba, Port Said and Suez due to the deteriorating security situation.

"In order to avoid a threat to the safety of Ukrainian citizens, who are on holiday in the resort city of Hurghada, it is recommended to stay within the territory of hotels and refrain from non-organized trips to the city and outside it. It is recommended that Ukrainian citizens, who are on holiday in the resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh, refrain from traveling to South Sinai and the town of Taba," Foreign Ministry spokes person Oleksandr Dykusarov said in a statement released by the ministry’s press service on Monday.

The Foreign Ministry also advised all Ukrainian citizens, who are in Egypt, to refrain from visiting crowded places and participating in protests, demonstrations or other activities aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country.

"It is recommended not to enter into disputes with local people on issues related to the political situation in Egypt, religious preference or gender inequality," the ministry said.

The press service also paid attention to the need to check the period of validity of visas in order to prevent the threat of arrest for the violation of the visa and immigration regime in Egypt.

Seven people were killed as a result of clashes between protesters and security forces in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in the wake of a deadly soccer riot.

The protesters accuse the police of failing to prevent the violence after a soccer game in Port Said that killed 74 people. Five more people died in Suez.
