You're reading: Foreign Ministry: Group of Ukrainians, Belarusians, Poles and Syrians evacuated from Syria arrives at Kyiv Airport

A plane carrying 45 Ukrainians, as well as citizens of Belarus, Poland and Syria, from Damascus (Syria) arrived at Kyiv Airport (Zhuliany) at 11:30 p.m. Kyiv time on August 30, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oleksandr Dykusarov told Interfax-Ukraine on Friday, Aug. 31.

He said that 411 Ukrainians had been evacuated from Syria in recent
months through the efforts of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

Dykusarov also noted that the evacuation had been carried out using
the aircraft of the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry, the Defense
Ministry, Ukrainian airlines, as well as with the assistance of
international partners such as the International Organization for
Migration.

In addition, he said that in recent months, including the flight on
August 30, Ukraine had evacuated from Syria 42 citizens of other
countries, among them 17 Poles, 18 Syrians and seven Belarusians.

Dykusarov also added that the Ukrainian Embassy in Syria would continue to compile lists of Ukrainians for evacuation.
