Yalta, Sept. 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukraine and the European Union have made significant progress in talks on signing the association agreement by switching to the final stage in this process, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule has said.

"We’ve made significant progress and switched to the final stage of signing the association agreement," he said at a meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on Friday as part of the 8th Yalta Annual Meeting entitled "Ukraine and the World: Common Challenges, Common Future."

"The quality of relations between Ukraine and the European Union depends not only on progress at the negotiating table," Fule said.

Yanukovych, in turn, said that he would like to once again discuss the agenda of relations between Ukraine and the EU and the forthcoming conference of the Eastern Partnership and to decide what can be done together on this path.
