You're reading: Gas stocks at Ukraine’s underground storage facilities 36.4% down in three months of heating season

Ukraine since the beginning of the 2015/2016 heating season has reduced natural gas stocks in its underground gas storage facilities (UGS) by 36.4%, or 6.218 billion cubic meters.

According to data from PJSC Ukrtransgaz, as of October 29, 2015 some 17.064 billion cubic meters of gas were stored in the UGS, while on February 6, 2016 gas reserves in the underground has storage facilities amounted to 10.847 billion cubic meters, which is 20.3% more than on February 6, 2015 (9.019 billion cubic meters).

In October 2015 gas taking was 10 million cubic meters, in November 2015 some 835 million cubic meters, in December 2015 some 2.224 billion cubic meters, in January 2016 the figure was 2.833 billion cubic meters and on February 1-6 – 266 million cubic meters.

According to the company, on February 6, 2016 the gas taking regime was 36.78 million cubic meters per day, while on February 6, 2015 some 54.5 million cubic meters of gas per day.

According to live data from European operators of gas transportation systems, gas imports from Slovakia on February 6 totalled 39.8 million cubic meters, from Hungary 800,000 cubic meters, from Poland 3.7 million cubic meters. Imports from Russia were suspended from November 26, 2015.
