MOSCOW - Gazprom steeply reduced gas supplies to Italy in late July and, consequently, gas transit volumes through Ukraine, at the same time that a competing supplier, Norway, increased supplies, according to industry statistics.

A source in the sector attributed the reduction of supplies of Russian gas to Italy to repairs on the gas transportation system. According to operators’ data, in July repairs were planned on three compressor stations in the gas transportation system, which supplies gas to Italy from Russia.
