Germany's fans are delighted with the Ukrainian city of Lviv, German Ambassador to Ukraine Hans-Jurgen Heimsoeth has said.

“In fact, the hearts of German fans have rushed to Lviv. It appeared
before them in such a friendly state, clean and open the world, which
caused a wave of desire to remain for the second match involving
Germany,” he wrote on his blog on the Ukrainska Pravda online newspaper.

He said that many Germans who did not initially plan to attend
another Euro 2012 group match in Ukraine, “in an outburst of feeling,
decided to watch the Germany-Denmark game, and they did not regret it.”

“Residents of Lviv were openly happy about the visitors and showed
this during the games. Some Germans felt in Lviv that the summer fairy
tale of 2006 had been called back into their memories,” he wrote,
referring to the FIFA World Cup, which was held in Germany from June 9
on July 9, 2006.
