You're reading: Germany to provide five million euros grant to Lviv to build tram line in Sykhiv

Lviv city council, municipal enterprise Lvivavtodor and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have signed an agreement on receiving of an investment grant from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety of Germany as a part of a project on the prolongation of tram route 4, the press service of Lviv City Council has reported.

 The press service said that the size of the grant is 5 million euros.

“Lviv becomes an example of cooperation between Ukrainian cities and
the bank. Over the past five years we’ve signed the fourth agreement. I
want to congratulate city authorities on successful work. Here projects
are really implemented… This is a unique contribution in the economic
prosperity and economic welfare of residents,” the press service said,
citing Director of Municipal and environmental infrastructure at EBRD
Jean-Patrick Marquet.

The project to prolong the tramline from Stusa Street to the Sykhiv
district is financed using funds borrowed from EBRD (6 million euros), 5 million euros of the grant from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature
Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety of Germany and 6.2 million euros
from the city.

Onur construction international LLC is carrying out the work.

As reported, the EBRD and Lviv signed a loan agreement for EUR 6
million to realize the project on the prolongation of tram route 4 from
Stusa Street to the Sykhiv district. The funds were provided until March
2019.
