“This is a very important step for the macroeconomic stability of our country,” he said.

The premier noted the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission completed work in Ukraine last week and assured the government would continue cooperation with the IMF and make every effort to fulfill Ukraine’s obligations.

“The Ukrainian government is set to conduct structural and systemic reforms in the country, and we understand these reforms, first of all, are needed for our country,” Groysman said.

Toloui, in turn, commended the first steps of the new Ukrainian government, in particular, in the introduction of a single market price of gas, the completion of the second IMF program, as well as statements with respect to the necessity of ending the political influence of oligarchs.

He also noted progress in partnership between Ukraine and the United States achieved over the last two years, and assured of the U.S.’ readiness to support Ukraine on the path of reform, as evidenced by the decision on the issue of the third tranche of financial assistance in the form of loan guarantees.
