You're reading: Hearing of Lutsenko case postponed until Nov. 14

Pechersky District Court in Kyiv on Thursday postponed the hearing of a criminal case against former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko Ukraine as witness Kostiantyn Sydorenko became mentally distressed.

At the beginning of the hearing, the court asked Sydorenko, Lutsenko’s former driver, about his psychological state, since it was clear that he was in distress.

The witness said that he had come to the court hearing from a funeral but that he could testify.

However, after a few answers from Sydorenko, it was clear that he would not be able to participate in the hearing.

The former interior minister submitted a motion to postpone the questioning of the witness.

"I’m asking you to postpone the questioning of the witness. He cannot answer due to feeling distressed. We are simply torturing him," Lutsenko said.

The next court hearing will be held at 1000 on Nov. 14.
