Kharkiv – Kyivsky District Court of Kharkiv has ruled to schedule the next hearing of the criminal case against former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko on the activities of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU) Corporation for 1000 on July 10, and has ordered that there be a medical examination of the ex-premier.

According to an Interfax-Ukraine reporter, the court made this decision on Monday.

“No official information is available to the court on Tymoshenko’s condition. Therefore, the court can neither hear the case under any reasonable schedule, or suspend it,” the court said.

Experts of the Kharkiv regional forensic medical bureau have been put in charge of this job.

They will have to provide answers to the following questions: Does the ex-prime minister suffer from any diseases? If she does, are they serious and long-lasting? Is her condition an obstacle to her understanding of the information heard and expressing her opinion? Is she fit to attend the hearings, or are there medical contradictions?

Tymoshenko will have to be examined if she declines to provide her case history. In this connection, the administration of the prison in Kharkov, where she is serving her term, will have to produce notarized copies of her medical documents.

The court rejected the defense lawyers’ request to suspend the litigation.
