You're reading: ICRC suggests raising number of crossing points in Donbas

The delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to Ukraine called for increasing the number of crossing points on the dividing line in Donbas.

This is a problem related to the restriction of movement of civilians and cargo shipments, head of the ICRC delegation Alan Ashliman said at a press conference on Jan. 28.

He said that this was quite a major and serious restriction for people who need to pass through these crossing points, and they have to wait for a very long time: up to 25 hours. The ICRC insists on the need to facilitate this issue somehow and to open more crossing points in order to cut the waiting time, Ashliman said.

He also said that the situation had been worsened by the frost. The ICRC is considering the issue of placing several heating points, Ashliman said.
