The Ukrainian Interior Ministry has confirmed that MP of the fifth and sixth convocations (2006-2012) Oleksandr Shepelev is on the international wanted list on suspicion of attempted murder and embezzlement.

“Shepelev is on the international wanted list on suspicion of committing crimes under Article 191 of Part 5 (theft on a large scale) and under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempted murder),” the public relations department at the ministry told Interfax-Ukraine.

Earlier the mass media reported that Oleh Povaliayev, the lawyer of former temporary administrator of Rodovid Bank Serhiy Scherbyn, said that Oleksandr Shepelev and his wife Halyna Shepeleva were wanted.

According to the sources of the Ukrainska Pravda online publication, Shepelev is on the wanted list on charges of an attempted murder of Rodovid Bank ex-shareholder Serhiy Diadechko, and Shepelev has left Ukraine.

As reported, in April 2012 the chief of the main investigation department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Ivan Derevianko, said a criminal case had been opened against Shepelev in February 2011. The SBU suspects Oleksandr Shepelev of being involved in the embezzlement of the funds of Rodovid Bank worth over UAH 220 million, as well as being involved, along with businessman Pavlo Borulko, in the embezzlement of public funds of the refinancing of the National Bank of Ukraine worth UAH 315.3 million in March-May 2009.
