The Interior Ministry announced on its website that 730,700 people celebrated the New Year publicly at 1,200 public events and were policed by 12,600 law enforcement personnel.

Oblast had the most crowds of New Year revelers where 43 celebrations were
recorded with 165,000 people taking part, followed by 90,000 partygoers in
Kharkiv Oblast participating in 34 parties.
Curiously
nothing was mentioned of Kyiv’s outdoor New Year observation on Independence
Square where at least 100,000 were in attendance.
Major law
infractions weren’t recorded during the New Year celebrations, the Interior
Ministry stated.
On Jan. 1,424 public New Year events are planned with 290,000 people taking part.
“The police
would like to request of citizens that they maintain public order and follow
the law, be tolerant toward each other and to not disrupt order and assist law
enforcement personnel in the carrying out of their duties to protect public
order,” says the police statement.
