You're reading: International monitoring mission could include Russian representative

The head of the Ukrainian Security Service Valentyn Nalyvaichenko has called for a Russian representative to be included in a mission monitoring the security operation in the eastern regions of Ukraine.

“It is necessary for our traditional partners and the Foreign
Ministry to secure the presence and work of a high-ranking Russian
representative in the framework of the OSCE (Organization for Security
and Co-operation in Europe) or any other mission which would, in our
view, be very important on the spot (in southeast Ukraine),”
Nalyvaichenko told an international conference in Kyiv.

For their part, the Ukrainian authorities are ready to support the
work of such a mission and allow access to all the evidence and all
individuals arrested for engaging in criminal activities in the
country’s east, he said.
