The International Monetary Fund will take a pause in lending under the Extended Fund Facility Program (EFF) if the Ukrainian government resigns, and will continue only when a new government is ready to fulfill the commitments undertaken by the former government, Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko said.

“They will wait until it is clear who the executive power is and whether it undertakes to fulfill the commitments under which $6.7 billion has already been disbursed and the next $1.7 billion is most likely to be [disbursed] soon,” she said during the Svoboda Slova program on ICTV on Monday.

In her words, cooperation with the IMF is of critical importance for Ukraine now, as there are no other lenders that are ready to give Ukraine funds for such a long term and at such low rates.
