You're reading: Kharkiv allocates additional funds for Euro 2012

The deputies of Kharkiv City Council at a session on Wednesday increased the funding of preparations for the Euro 2012 European Football Championship in Kharkiv by Hr 723 million, the city council's press service has reported.

The funds will be allocated from various sources.

Funds from the city budget will be used to repair and construct municipal roads and construct a fan zone on Svobody Square.

"According to a city council decision, the planned funding from the national budget is increased by Hr 326.87 million, funds from the city budget by Hr 34.8 million, while those from the regional budget are decreased by Hr 3.74 million. Other sources will increase funding by Hr 365.01 million," reads the report.

In addition, the city council amended the city budget on the distribution of a Hr 28.8 million subvention allocated by Kharkiv Regional Council.

Thus, Hr 6.3 million was allocated to reconstruct the Palace of Children and Youth Creativity, Hr 14.5 million to reconstruct Kharkiv City Clinical Hospital No. 30, Hr 6.7 million to construct the second stage of the Derhachi solid household waste landfill, Hr 1 million as financial aid to Miskelektrotrans, and Hr 258,500 to pay state aid to orphans.
