You're reading: Klimkin calls on PACE to continue international legal pressure on Russia

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin and Rapporteur of the Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Michele Nicoletti discussed the situation in Donbas on Jan. 20 .

“Pavlo Klimkin called on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to continue the pressure on the Russian Federation to make it respect its commitments under the international organizations, including the Council of Europe and bilateral agreements,” the Foreign Minister said in a statement.

The parties also discussed the situation with the violations of human rights in the temporary occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Ukrainian citizens illegally detained in Russia, including the PACE member Nadia Savchenko.

Klimkin and Nicoletti also discussed the process of internal reforms aimed at further development of democratic society in Ukraine. Thy noted a significant contribution of the Council of Europe in the process of reforming our state in accordance with best European practices.
