You're reading: Klitschko expects active cooperation from “democratic society”

Leader of the UDAR party Vitali Klitschko said he asked the governments of democratic countries and the global community to enhance pressure on the current Ukrainian authorities in order to stop "terror against the nation."

“The regime of [Ukrainian President Viktor] Yanukovych has started a certain terror against his own nation by using methods of dictatorship regimes. Police use brutal force and weapons against protestors. We are appealing to all friends of the Ukrainian democracy with the request to enhance the pressure on the exiting Ukrainian authorities in order to make them stop the war against their own people,” the UDAR press office quoted Klitschko as saying in a statement released on Thursday.

First of all it is necessary to protect activists of Ukrainian civil society, Klitschko said.

“No time is left for thinking. It is time for certain actions,” he said.
