You're reading: Kolomoisky convenes congress of territorial communities of southeastern Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk on May 11

 Interregional Council of Territorial Communities of Southeast Ukraine will hold a congress of the representatives of territorial communities of Donetsk, Luhansk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odessa and Mykolaiv regions in Dnipropetrovsk on May 11.

 According to the communication and public relations department of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, the congress will be held upon the initiative of head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Ihor Kolomoisky at Dnipropetrovsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre. Village heads, regional governors and city mayors as well as deputies of local councils of all levels are invited to participate in the work of the congress.

The congress is organized “for protection of the communities’ rights for free expression of will and for change of administrative borders according to the laws of Ukraine within the state borders of Ukraine,” the statement said.

Besides, the congress will also cover communities’ actions “to counteract military aggression of the Russian Federation and terrorist acts against Ukrainian government”.

The creation of a united Self-Defense and Territorial Defense Headquarters and volunteer battalions of the Ukraine’s Interior Ministry will be put for consideration as well.
