Poland supports Ukraine in its plans to join the European Union, Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski has said.

“Poland supports Ukraine in its intentions related to integration
with the European Union, and we need to emphasize Ukraine’s achievements
on this path,” he said during the extended talks with Ukrainian
President Viktor Yanukovych in Kyiv on Thursday.

Komorowski said that Poland was paying special attention to the upcoming parliamentary election.

“We would like the election and the political activities related to the elections to bring Ukraine closer to the EU,” he said.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych assured his counterpart that
the authorities would do their best to ensure the law on parliamentary
elections in Ukraine is observed.

“We will do everything in the authorities’ power for the law to be fully observed,” the Ukrainian president said
