You're reading: Kyiv city to build 30 new transport hubs by 2025

Kyiv's draft development strategy until 2025 foresees the building of around 30 new transport hubs, the press service of Kyiv City Administration has reported.

The head of the chief department for town planning and architecture at the administration, Serhiy Tselovalnyk, said that two-level and multi-level transport hubs will be built in the city, in particular, near bridges across the River Dnipro. In addition, tunnels for transit transport will be built.

Tselovalnyk said that the pace of construction of transport infrastructure would not be reduced.

"The city needs more, but we’re pressed for time until 2025 and we have a lot of work to do. However, Kyiv residents are witnesses to the fact that over the past year work in this direction has been very active," he said.

Tselovalnyk said that the building of hubs is not a panacea that can rescue Kyiv from traffic jams.

"The designing of overpasses, hubs and bridges is not a way of settling of the problem. Traffic flows have to be distributed in the right way. This first has to be calculated and studied, and then [infrastructure] built. The issues should be settled in a balanced and comprehensive way," he said.
