Kyiv's Shevchenkivsky Court has turned down Open Court project administrator Stanislav Batryn's motion on recognizing Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine because this is an obvious fact that need not be proven, the court said in a statement on its website.

“The Shevchenkivsky District Court in the city of Kyiv, ruled on May 12, 2016 to turn down Stanislav Vitaliyovych Batryn’s motion on establishing a fact that is of legal significance, namely the fact of the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine, as the said fact in itself does not affect the claimant’s rights, and is commonly known,” the court said.

Batryn filed a motion on recognizing Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine with the Shevchenkivsky Court in August 2014. The Ukrainian president, the Security Service, the Foreign Ministry, the Defense Ministry, and the Russian embassy in Kyiv have acted as parties of interest.
