The Kyiv police has opened two criminal investigations into the events on the Independence Square in the early hours of Saturday.

“Two criminal investigations [have been opened] under Articles 342 (resistance to government or law enforcement officials) and 296 (disorderly conduct) of the Ukrainian Criminal Code,” the Kyiv city police department said in a statement.

It also said that it received 32 complaints from people on receiving injuries during the breakup of a protest rally in central Kyiv and launched an inquiry in all these complaints.

Twelve law enforcement officials also received injuries in the clashes with the demonstrators, it said.
